Universitas Islam Indonesia is a private university in Special Region of Yogyakarta, Indonesia. It was established on 27 Rajab 1364 (Islamic calendar) or on 8 July 1945 as STI (Sekolah Tinggi Islam - Islamic Higher School) by political figures of the day including Dr. Muhammad Hatta, Mohammad Natsir, Mohammad Roem, Wahid Hasyim, and Abdul Kahar Muzakkar. STI developed into a university called Universitas Islam Indonesia on 14 December 1947. Historically, UII is the first national university in Indonesia and it is the oldest private university in the country. Since the beginning of the 1990s, UII has been developing an integrated campus in Sleman regency, in the northern part of the province of Yogyakarta. UII has 3 Doctoral programs, 9 Masters programs, 4 Professional programs, 25 undergraduate courses, and 4 Diploma programs covering a wide spectrum of sciences. In 2013, UII obtains A accreditation for Higher Education Institution Accreditation by National Accreditation Board of Higher Education Indonesia, with the highest accreditation scores among other private universities in Indonesia. UII awarded Indonesia Green Awards in the Green Campus category (2012 and 2014), one of the top 10 best universities in Indonesia in the category of higher education management and organizational quality (2016). UII got the highest rank in terms of research performance by Ministry of Research and Technology version. In the same year, UII also reinforced the gait at the international level. Most of UII's faculties and buildings will eventually be on these 25 hectares of land. Pharmacy Department of UII established in 1998 and accredited B of Higher Education. It has also been awarded ISO 9001: 2008 in 2009 from TUV Rheinland, Germany.
